After School Studio Arts
(for ages 6-9 and 10-13 years)
April 24-May 25
Our newest after school program provides a rich foundation for children to explore a wide variety of art mediums. In this studio setting, children have access to the knowledge and practice of working artists and are surrounded by people creating. The extended time alloted for this program ensures kids have a chance to problem solve, experiment, and build technical skills--all under the guidance of experienced teaching artists who understand what kids need at each stage of their creative development.
Each five week session consists of clay handbuilding, printmaking, sculpture, drawing and painting, guided by a professional teaching artist. Students are divided by age groups as necessary for skill development. Students are welcome to make up a class on another day, if they miss their session due to illness or school absence. The flexible drop-off time allows friends near and far to join together for art classes!

In this supportive group class, we draw from observation and work with an artist to learn ways to "see" differently. Learn about drawing materials and techniques, with a focus on use of line, value, texture, proportion, composition and expression.
A great class for absolute beginners to intermediate young artists! We'll work together to offer encouragement, support each other in taking drawing risks, and discover exciting new ways to make paper amd canvas come alive with images.
